West London (Acton, Ealing, Hammersmith, Earls Court, Notting Hill, Windsor, Bracknell)

West London residences are desirable and in vogue, from 'Queen of the Surburbs' Ealing to 'Kangaroo' Earls Court. Notting Hill, with its terraced Victorian Townhouses, remains a sought after and expensive locale. A typical resident in a Notting Hill flatshare is young and affluent with bohemian leanings. If Notting Hill is full, try a Bayswater flatshare, just down the road.

A Hammersmith flatshare is also an appealing option, as it’s a major employment and commercial hub. You’ll find the Lyric Theatre here, as well as the offices of Disney, Coca-Cola, EMI and ABC.

Earls Court is often referred to as 'Kangaroo Court' because of its heavy population of Australians and New Zealanders.

West London has no shortage of attractions! From Earls Court, walk to High Street Kensington or frequent the local pubs like the popular Kings Head and Ashbury Wines. Earls Court is also gay-friendly, with pubs like the Coleherne Pub catering to the Pink Pound. For a great pub in Acton, visit The Dragon; it has a great mix of locals which include Japanese, Poles, South Africans, Australians and Somalis!

Each Saturday, The Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill fills with shoppers searching for treasures and bargains in the form of music, clothing, antiques and jewellery.
The Notting Hill Carnival, which attracts over a million participants and viewers each August, started off in much more modest fashion. The first carnival was held in 1959 inside St. Pancras Town Hall to help address racial tensions. Over time, it moved to its current Notting Hill location and became a celebration of London’s diversity.

Live in West London if you want culture, great transport links to Central London and a shared house or flatshare that will place you among a trendy set of diverse and artistic professionals.
