East London Suburbs (Romford, Hornchurch)
The East London suburbs of Romford and Hornchurch retain a traditional English appeal. Many people living in the area do so in shared houses and flatshares.
Romford is undergoing extensive building and development. It is a market town and shopping can be done in the Liberty Shopping Centre or the Lakeside Shopping Centre. Romford has a local ice arena and is home to the Romford Raiders Hockey Team.
Hornchurch houses the popular Queen’s Theatre, a modern 500-seat theatre that sits close to the town centre and offers varied entertainment to patrons.
A market town since 1247, Romford has exclusive rights to be the only market in a six and two thirds mile radius. This ancient law might seem antiquated, but the Romford Council called it into effect in the 1990’s to keep nearby Ilford from opening its own market!
Romford and Hornchurch are great areas to live in and remain popular for people looking for a London house share or flatshare.
